Application of advanced NDT methods to assess structural integrity of pressure vessel welded joints

چکیده
The review of non-destructive testing pressure vessel for compressed air is given, as well the assessment and analysis defects on integrity itself. focus here welded joints, most critical areas in vessels, especially if thickness large, like case considered (50 mm), cylindrical storage vessels made HSLA steel. Toward this end conventional NDT methods, such UT Radiography are used first phase research, providing valuable data structural based detected unacceptable joints. Anyhow, since few were found by UT, there was a need to use advanced Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT), evaluate defect position size more precisely. In way risk failure can be assessed reliable, which utmost importance where probability low, but consequence potentially catastrophic, here.
